Description: This employer provides support services to people with (sometimes severe) learning disabilities, mental health issues, epilepsy, Aspergers Syndrome and Autism.
Clients present with challenging behaviour and they can not be “cured”, which means the workers will have to be able to work positively with the challenging behaviour, as this is not going to change.
The philosophy aims to enable people to live their own lives happily and achieve goals using a person centred approach. You will work with clients, psychologists, and the clients` families or carers, social services and health professionals. Positions available for career starters, as well as for more experienced workers – the employer will be appointing directly to more senior level.
You must:
- Enjoy working with people with learning disabilities
- have excellent communication skills
- be able to develop trustful relationships to clients
- promote the clients independence
- have a good sense of humour
- be “kind”, respectful and understanding towards your clients and bring a positive work attitude
- be “robust” as in crisis resistant and calm.
